After moving to Paris from Chicago with just two suitcases, it would seem that I don’t have many clothes. That’s not to say I don’t have many outfits. Ever since I discovered reversible clothing, my closet has transformed. And so has the way I pack.
Whether I’m working in Paris, traveling on an assignment, or going on an “unplugged” vacation, I like to feel stylish and comfortable. Versatile travel fashion is often the answer.
On a typical day, I may go from running errands to attending meetings to blogging from cafes. On the road, I walk around most of the day and go out in the evening (restaurants, shows, sporting events). I like wearing day-to-night dresses, but many pieces in my luggage and closet are coordinated basics.
A new favorite is the Reversible Transfer Top from Anywhere Apparel.
This Minnesota-based company was founded by two world travelers Nick and Kelly, who know from experience the importance of functional, carry-on ready travel fashion. Not satisfied with apparel meant just for outdoor adventure, they decided to create versatile pieces. “We needed clothing that would go anywhere,” they say.
The Transfer Top is one of their first releases. Thanks to its layered design, you get multiple looks in one: from casual to fancy. And the shirt is well made too.
At first I noticed the decorative stitches and subtle patterns. Then I picked up the top and was pleasantly surprised at how little it weighted, despite two layers. And when I tried it on both ways, it felt soft on my skin. The casual side (gray) is made of a bamboo blend that is breathable and suitable for sensitive skin. The fancy side (blue) is silky polyester.
I have since worn the top on many occasions, sometimes for hours. It kept me cool during the summer, and warm enough in the early fall. The loose, yet tailored fit makes the piece both comfortable and feminine. After a few washes, the shape has stayed the same.
My favorite way to wear the top is with skinny jeans and ankle boots (sometimes with the sleeves rolled up). As the seasons change, I will pair it with a denim jacket, scarf, and tall boots. For a dressier look, I wear the blue side with black pieces (pencil skirts or slim fit pants), high heels, and silver jewelry.
Gentlemen, Anywhere Apparel isn’t only for women. Have a look at their Men’s Terminus Base Tee in charcoal and gray.
