How can an airline advertise their in-flight services and make it memorable? Virgin Atlantic took to the streets of New York City. Here’s what they did.
Unsuspecting New Yorkers who happened to sit on a red bench in a Manhattan park got to experience the airline’s first-class services. From out of the blue, Virgin Atlantic flight attendants appeared, carrying a Champagne tray and lunch menu. When the “passengers” chose entertainment options from a monitor attached to the bench, actors performed live-action sequences based upon the selection.

This was all part of a marketing campaign, centered on the message of “flying in the face of the ordinary.” I enjoyed watching the video, because I like airlines that display a distinct personality. While I often make my purchase decisions based on airfare prices, some of my best flights have been with airlines that make the “jetting around” experience fun.
What do you think of the video? Would you take it into account when choosing an airline for your next flight?
