Photo of the Week: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

View of the Main Quad at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign campus

Established in 1837, this high-ranking public university with locations in Chicago and central Illinois is noted for its scientific research and Nobel- and Pulitzer Prize-winning alumni. During a visit to the campus, I was given a tour by a friend who is a U of I student.

One of my favorite areas was the Main Quad – a large lawn with tree-lined alleys, extending from the Illini Union. The building houses student organizations, event facilities, plus a bowling alley, cafe, and hotel.

Great photo of the week. I love campus-sightseeing, I do this quite often :-) and the autumn colors of the Main Quad are amazing.
