Photo(s) of the Week: Baker Beach in San Francisco
View of the Golden Gate Bridge from “past the gate”
The roughly mile-long beach on the shore of the Pacific Ocean is located just west of the bridge, in the northwestern corner of the city and the San Francisco Peninsula. Besides views of the Golden Gate, Baker Beach is a place for picnics, surfing and sunbathing (clothing is optional in the northern section).

Very nice picture. I went there with my family when I was 11 but we didn’t stray this far from the bridge.

Hi Arianwen. I’m glad you like the photo – thank you! It was my first time going to the other side of the bridge, thanks to a friend who showed me the beach.
What a beautiful shot of the Golden Gate Bridge. Never seen a perspective of it from the beach. Very cool.

Thanks, Ted! It’s a great spot in the city. The views of the bridge and the ocean in general are fantastic there.
Wow! Amazing picture, Pola! I haven’t been here yet, but it’s on my list!

Thank you, Erin! I hope you get to visit soon, it’s such a beautiful area.
Hi Pola,
What a beautiful place to take a morning walk or an afternoon stroll! I miss the days when we lived near the beach and my cousins and I could go anytime and even have our breakfast there.
What a nice view of the bridge!

It’s now one of my favorite spots in San Francisco. Perhaps next time I’ll stay longer and do a picnic. Glad you liked the photo, thanks!
Ha! Any time I’ve been to San Fran it’s too cold for the “clothing optional” section of the beach. LOL!

Hahaha! Are you saying you might come back in the summer? ;-)
Can’y believe how deserted the beach is. Love to make it there some day!:)

Good point, Fiona. It was really windy on the beach that day, so maybe that’s why. :)
Well, I clicked to enlarge but didn’t see anyone exercising clothing optional! LOL Great pix, as usual!

LOL, I didn’t mean to do false advertising! ;-)
I also love to spend some afternoon stroll here with my friends. When I was still in San Francisco we visit here once a month.

It’s such a lovely place for a walk! How lucky that you got to be there so often. :)
Not sure if I’m ready for skinny dipping just yet. Looks cold!
Give it till spring. ;-)
I love this view of the Golden Gate Bridge. It seems like so many photos are from the ‘other’ side of it.

To me the bridge is stunning from any angle. I love this structure…
